Nu-Homes, Inc. was established in 1975 by Harry Bowie, Sr. The Bowie name has enjoyed recognition in Maryland for nearly 300 years. John Bowie, who debarked From Scotland in 1705 at the invitation of Captain John Smith, represents the first in a long line of Bowies. Later, Bowies became governors, legislators, military officers, and even a designer of the Washington Monument. In 1975 Nu-Homes, Inc. newly formed company established itself as one of the top residential construction companies in Howard County. Nu-Homes continues to employ its own carpenters, many of them having been with Nu-Homes since the early 70’s. Custom cabinetry, framing and finishing are all done “in-house” by Nu-Homes. Whether it is the air stopping foam around all of the wires in the wall, the “Watch Dog” basement waterproofing system, or the tongue and groove sub flooring, customer’s have found much to cheer about in a Nu-Homes residence.
