Lastly, visitors can register to become VIP members. As a VIP member, you are able to create custom searches that will send you new properties fitting your specified criteria direct to your e-mail inbox! You will also be able to compare properties side-by-side using the Property Comparator and then be able to rank, remove, and add properties to the list. Lastly as a VIP member, you will be able to save listings to your Favorites, and then receive updates when the properties reduce their price or change their listing status!

Last year, the inventory of homes available for sale was very high which slowed the sale of homes dramatically. In response to the slowing market, many sellers decided to take their homes off of the market in the month of November. As a result of sellers removing their homes, buyers were left with a more limited selection of homes.
The New Year brought out many more buyers ready to take advantage of the low interest rates and the pricing stabilization that resulted from the last months of 2006. The Northrop Team sold 200 homes in the months of January and February! March was on pace with the prior months, with Springtime in the air. According to the Maryland Association of Realtors, home sales in our area have increased over 2006 in the first 3 months of 2007!

MORTGAGE NEWS
It is a great time for buyers again because Interest Rates are still at RECORD Lows (in the low 6% for a conforming 30 year fixed rate). It has also become a more normal market, which equates to buyers and sellers negotiating.
David Lereah, NAR's chief economist, states that "2007 is still expected to be the THIRD strongest on Record in Real Estate sales. He also comments; in this case, experiencing a slowing from a HOT Market is a good thing because we need a solid housing sector to provide an underlying base to the economy, and slower appreciation will help to preserve long-term affordability.
If we look back to previous years Interest Rates, buyers and sellers still bought no matter what the rates were. However, when rates are at all time Low's; it does help increase the purchasing power so that the buyer is getting the "biggest bang for their buck."
While year-to-year fluctuations are normal, real estate remains one of the best performing and consistent long-term investments you can make. There is no better time to buy, than NOW.
