About Ashman's Hope
Ashman’s Hope is a thoughtfully designed enclave of charming homes nestled in the heavily wooded setting of Historic Franklintown, Baltimore.
Founded in 1837, the neighborhood was the first planned suburb in America. A warm feeling comes from the many original buildings and homes still standing. Ashman’s Hope common areas are designed by Tom Woolfolk, the prominent landscape architect. Plant species indigenous to Maryland set off the sidewalks and sunlit plaza at the center of the community. Relax in the comfortable sitting areas the plaza offers, amble down the stone paths, or chat with your neighbors. Stonedust driveways and gentle walks lead to each home, designed by award winning architect, RM Sovich of Canton. A champion of New Urbanist design, Sovich hoped that residents would experience a tight-knit community interested in quality design with a high level of detail.
